A primary objective of LeonardoMD is to empower the physician with the key functionality needed to revolutionize their practice of medicine, while at the same time providing an enjoyable user experience. To ensure we are delivering on that objective, we have assembled a distinguished panel of influential physicians and practice management experts for our Medical Advisory Board. This group of influencers from various specialties provides us with feedback and direction and helps us to continually improve and refine our service.
Lawrence F. Marshall, M.D.
Dr. Marshall is Chairman of Neurological Surgery and Professor of Surgery, University of California, San Diego. He is a world recognized leader in the management of head injuries. Dr. Marshall is uniquely qualified in practice management and has extensive experience in business administration of a major academic medical center, having served as Chair, UCSD Practice Plan, Associate Dean for Faculty Practice Affairs, Acting Executive Director, UCSD Medical Group and Executive Director of UCSD Managed Care. He is author of over 200 publications and the recipient of numerous research grants for his scientific study in neurological trauma. Because of the widespread respect of his work, he was appointed to the editorial board of the prestigious Journal of Neurosurgery. He is the inventor of the Neuroptics Pupillometer which is being introduced worldwide as the first objective, digital measurement of papillary activity and related ophthalmic structures. Dr. Marshall received his M.D., cum laude from the University of Michigan and undertook his Neurosurgical training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.
Mikhail Samchukov, M.D.
Dr. Samchukov is Director of the Division of Clinical Orthopedic Research at Seay Center for Musculoskeletal Research - Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Dallas, Texas. He is an internationally recognized Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in distraction osteogenesis. He currently holds appointments as Associate Clinical Professor, Texas A&M University Health Science System, and Assistant Professor, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Samchukov is a graduate of Khabarovsk Medical Institute in Russia, where he was one of Dr. Ilizarov’s original fellows. Dr. Samchukov has made numerous contributions to the practice of surgery and has a number of major inventions to his credit. His primary research interests are limb lengthening and deformity correction, computer assisted preoperative planning and monitoring, and distraction osteogenesis and histiogenesis. Dr. Samchukov has been awarded numerous research grants and has given many seminars and lectures. He is the co-author of 7 patents and 25 certified inventions, and has numerous publications including 5 books, 1 multimedia course on CD-ROM, 20 book chapters, more than 50 journal articles, and more than 150 abstracts.
Robert A. Hardesty, M.D., FACS
Dr. Hardesty is the former chief of the division of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children's Hospital, and is now in private practice in Palm Springs, California. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1978 and was subsequently awarded membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. His residency training lasted nearly a decade. He completed two residencies; general surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center and plastic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. An additional year of fellowship in pediatric/craniofacial surgery was completed at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Hardesty has board certifications in both plastic surgery and general surgery. He currently limits his practice to plastic surgery. He is a member of over 30 medical societies including the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the International Society of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Hardesty is well recognized for his research efforts both in the basic science and clinical fields. He has been awarded the Walter E. Macpherson Society Award twice as an "Outstanding Faculty Researcher." He has authored well over 80 articles and book chapters on plastic surgery. While Dr. Hardesty's board certifications and awards attest to his scholarly achievements, his clinical achievements provide a greater internal award. His practice is internationally based. His current clinical interests and areas of focus are aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery and pediatric plastic surgery. Dr. Hardesty has an excellent reputation as being listed in the nationally recognized publication Best Doctors in America: Pacific Region. This publication is based on an exhaustive survey in which more than 5,000 physicians in the Pacific area were asked to rate the clinical abilities of their peers. It is widely regarded as the preeminent referral guide to the medical profession. Dr. Hardesty regularly volunteers and leads surgical teams to areas of the world in need of surgical treatment of congenital or acquired deformities. His recent trips include the Philippines, India, and Mexico. He has appeared on several national broadcasts, including the "Leeza Show," as well as numerous local television and talk radio shows. His national lay print coverage includes People Magazine. Dr. Hardesty's greatest satisfaction outside of medicine is his family: his wife Marti Baum-Hardesty, MD, and his children, Ashlee, Bradford, Chelsea, and Derek.
Jennifer Bever, MS, CHE
Drawing on her sharp analytical skills, Jennifer Bever applies her can-do approach to problem solving to help clients deal with the multitude of complex issues facing healthcare organizations today. Jennifer’s practical solutions, continual coaching, and sense of humor help practices tackle to-do lists and keep focused on the end goal – satisfied patients, enthusiastic employees and financial success. As a member of the KZA consulting team, Jennifer works with Orthopaedic, Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery, and Plastic Surgery practices to review and improve billing and collections processes. In addition to teaching the AAOS Reimbursement Roundup course, Jennifer also serves as an instructor for various Medical Economics meetings and presentations, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Professional Association of Health Care Office Managers (PAHCOM), the Association of Otolaryngology Administrators (AOA), and various state and specialty societies and organizations. Reviews confirm Jennifer is an entertaining and enthusiastic instructor no matter the topic! In between consultations and speaking engagements, Jennifer contributes to various practice management journals such as Medical Economics, AMA News, and Health Care Billing and Collections. Previous experience working in solo and group private practices as well as over to 50 consultations, means Jennifer understands the daily operational issues facing physicians and their staff. Redesigning billing processes for increased collection effectiveness, reviewing and evaluating managed care contracts to boost revenue, implementing new office policies and procedures for improved patient flow and satisfaction, and developing and updating fee schedules are all projects she tackles on a regular basis. Jennifer earned her Masters of Science in Health Services Administration from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives, she has served on the Regent’s Advisory Committee. An active member of the Chicago Health Executives Forum, a local professional group for health administrators, Jennifer recently completed a term on the Executive Board.
